Abdolhasan Bangani-Sadr, who had become Iran's first president after the 1979 Islamic revolution before leaving forxis in France, died Saturday at the age of 88.
He died at the “Pitie-Salpetriere” hospital in Paris after a long illness, his wife and children announced on the official website.
Bunny-Sadr from an unknown figure had become Iran's first president in January 1980 with the help of the Islamic clergy, Reuters writes, broadcast Gazeta Express.
But after a power struggle with radical clergymen, he left Iran a year later to go to France, where he spent the rest of his life.
His old assistant, Pacneyad Yamaldin, told the agency “Reuters” over the phone that the former president's family would like him to be buried in Versailles, where he also lived during his time on the telephone.
In an interview given in 2019 on this agency, the former Iranian president said Ayatollah Khomeni betrayed the principles of the revolution after coming to power.
