Defence Minister: National Security Challenged by Serbia Past Days

Mehaji has shown the steps being taken to provide a safe and secure environment.

The first defence in Kosovo stressed that protection of constitutional order is a legal obligation.

It has long listed one of the activities the Ministry of Defence is carrying out.

Over the past few days, our security environment and regional security were challenged by the provoked political and security situation by the Government of the Republic of Serbia. In line with legal competencies and obligations, the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Kosovo implements monitoring, analysis, as well as constant assessment, during the 24 hours of the week, of all threats and dangers facing our security and defence system”.

Dear citizens,

Over the past few days, our security environment and regional security were challenged by provoked by a tense political and security situation by the Government of the Republic of Serbia.

In line with legal competencies and obligations, the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Kosovo implements monitoring, analysis, as well as constant assessment, during the 24 hours of the week, of all threats and dangers facing our security and defence system.

On the basis of these assessments, we also plan the capacities, measures, as well as our operational actions with the right decision making.

The defence ministry, along with our state institutions, and in co-operation and co-ordination with KFOR, has legal obligation to maintain the constitutional order of the state, institutions, and the life and welfare of all citizens of the country.

We're doing this with full determination, along with:

The legal reform, with the procedure of fulfilling/changing three basic laws of defence;

) Bills for humanitarian demining, overseas deployment and Military Police;

The concept-document for the reserve component and the Intelligence and Security Protection Agency;

The reform in state security policies with the drafting of the Republic of Kosovo Security Strategy and Defence Strategy;

) Enhancing human capacities at KSF with successful recruiting completion for 2021;

) Planning and announcements of the competition soon even for 850 active soldiers;

Strengthening further and deepening co-operation with partner states in the field of defence and security;

Enhancing co-operation with other key future countries of the country and the Ministry of Defence;

Initiation and development in the implementation phase of the military purchase concept “States with State” with many of our very powerful partner countries;

Initiation and development in the process of reshaping and reorganizing the Ministry of Defence;

Good Government with full transparency and accountability at all levels of the Ministry of Defence and KSF functioning;

Very close and effective co-ordination and co-ordination with NALT, KFOR and local security institutions;

) procurement projects in capital investments in the process of final realisation, which will further advance the modernisation of KSF;

Strengthening the command-control system at all levels, as well as advancing operational readiness with effective and highly professional implementation.

All of these and many other projects and activities, along with the US and partners, strongly believe that we are in the dynamic and direction needed to realise the full operational capacity and capacities of the KSF under the transition precautionary plan.

The transition of KSF to the professional, multiethnic, well-trained, well-trained and interoperability of meeting its constitutional and legal duties with full success:

The protection of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Kosovo;

military support civil authorities;

Participation in international operations.
