Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Hajrula Ceku has warned that the Government of the Republic of Kosovo is planning to follow legal procedures against Serbia after the latter prevented the Kosovo team from participating in the Belgrade World Boxing Championship.
He has said the obstacles to entry have been directed by the Serbian government.
“On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo we strongly condemn the government's action to prevent Kosovo from participating in the World Boxing Championship. We consider that this action of hosting this championship is directed by the Government of Serbia”, Ceku has said.
He has added that Kosovo is a full-fledged member of the ABA and that no one has the right to prevent our boxers from participating in these events.
Ceku has also added that this situation has surpassed the sports level and that it is a political issue due to Serbia's stance against the state of Kosovo and that they have also complained in the European Union but are surprised there has been no reaction on their part yet.
Ceku has warned that if the issue is not resolved, Kosovo will pursue legal ways to gain the right belonging to Kosovo athletes.
