The director for WHO vaccines, Kate O'Brien, said the third dose should be given people one to three months after the second dose, to protect them from serious diseases, hospital stays and death.
O'Brien also stressed that this does not apply to healthy adults, who have normal immune responses to vaccine and do not have other diseases.
Studies have shown that protection from inoculation in people over 65 decreases faster than in youths.
Many wealthy countries, including Britain, France, and the United States, have already recommended a third dose for the elderly and people with weakened immune systems.
O The BSH urged governments with many vaccines not to offer them to people under 65, but to give nations that do not have enough doses to vaccinate needy people.
A few days ago it was the drug agency that recommended using the third Pfizer dose of vaccine to the entire population that grew six months after taking the second dose, as well as using it to all elderly and vulnerable persons three months after two doses of immunization.
