Blinken tells Borrell: EU negotiations with Albania must start without delay

In a statement to the media, after meeting between Secretary of State Antony Blinken and EU High Representative for Foreign Policy Josep Borrell, the US says that the faster the integration of Western Balkan states into the EU would strengthen stability and contribute to the prosperity of people in the region.

“EU membership, a stated priority for the entire Western Balkans, helps consolidate democratic institutions, protects fundamental rights and the progress of rule of law. This region belongs to the European Union”, the statement said.

The dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia has also been discussed at the meeting. The United States encourages parties to commit to easing tensions and avoid actions that threaten stability.
