Following agreement on license, LDK fears government could accept association

The Democratic League of Kosovo expresses fear that the Kosovo government can accept the establishment of association of Serbian municipalities, especially after the agreement on plates and continued requirements by the EU and Serbia for implementation of the 2015 agreement. At the opposition party, they say the executive is taking steps back in dialogue and with this [...]
In the opposition party, they say the executive is taking steps back into dialogue and with that approach is jeopardising the creation of a Serbian entity with executive power. Meanwhile, civil society requires a consensus from across the political spectrum for creating a clear position in terms of association and its alternative.
Regarding the claims of Lumir Abdixhik's party, Kosova Press has asked Kosovo Government, but the same have not returned. Intangible have also been from the European Union for discussing the upcoming meeting of dialogue and trends by the Serbian side for opening this topic.
LDK Headship member Muhamet Hamiti says association with executive power should be unacceptable to Kosovo, but according to him with Kurti Government, its foundation is threatened.
This government is taking steps back because it said that the past agreements are not good, it would reconsider, now it is accomplishing and even taking steps back. I have been saying that with this kind of irresponsible and unmovable government in foreign affairs, we can risk an executive power association. However, it is unacceptable and violates Kosovo's constitutional regulation and the functionality of the state of Kosovo”, he says.
Opposition claims that the deal for the plates is step towards establishing association, dialogue process connoisseur Arber Fetah views it as early, as according to him the requirements of Serbia and the EU for implementing the association agreement are not new.
“As far as charges of establishing any association as the derivatives of the agreement (to the license plates) are concerned, we do not want to prejudge. We think it's still early and the dialogue process is continuing and the demand for Association is not new, this requirement is now a few years from Serbia as a party against dialogue, as often in the past as the European Union has mentioned as an agreement that should be implemented”, says Fetah.
Researchers in the Group for Jury and Political Studies require the Government and the entire political spectrum to have a consensus on establishing a position in order to establish association.
Kosovo's “, Government and the entire political spectrum need a crystallization of position associated with association. We have an attitude that should not be founded with executive competence that is unacceptable, but that is not enough when you sit at the negotiating table. I believe that Kosovo should have an alternative against association, in the sense that there will be alternative what after association, which is exiting this crossroads and not implementing executive competencies, why it should be taken under the Constitution of Kosovo and what are the clauses that were previously respected. Perhaps going with an alternative to a counterweight with the mention of Albanians in the Presevo Valley so that their rights will be levelled with local Serbs in Kosovo. Such a thing is done in the rounds of discussion, this should be empowered”, Fetah adds.
After reaching the agreement for license plates between Kosovo and Serbia, the EU through a media communiqué has also called for implementation of the 2015 agreement, with particular emphasis of the association of Serb municipalities in Kosovo. The Serbian side, however, has said that association should be the first topic for discussion at the next dialogue meeting.
Prime Minister Kurti has proposed the founding of the National Council of Minority, as a countervalue of association, but this has been rejected by Serbia. The government leader has repeatedly reiterated that association an ethnic one will not have a Kosovo. /kp/
