The president of the United States, Joe Biden, signed a host of executive orders until he unveiled a national strategy against the rabid body's pandemic.
Ten orders, among other things, are aimed at boosting the vaccine program, expanding mask testing and clothing, and increasing data collection and analysis, which would help create policies.
Foreign travelers will have to have a negative test against coronary and enter quarantine after arriving in the United States.
Beden also instructed agencies to use the Defence Production Act a wartime competence that allows the government to guide the industry to produce necessary supplies in times of national emergency.
“This is a wartime company”, said Biden until signing orders at the White House.
Our “Plan starts with an aggressive, secure and effective vaccine campaign aimed at meeting our goal of managing 100 million doses in our first 100 days in office”, Biden said.
Beden has made the fight against the coronary his top priority. Unlike his predecessor, Donald Trump, Biden plans to have national strategies, with greater involvement of the federal government, rather than allowing states to decide what is best.
Beden reduced expectations, saying the situation is likely to deteriorate before it gets better. He said the number of US victims could exceed 500,000 next month. Over 400,000 passed this week.
Biden said that more Americans have already died in the pandemic than during the rest of World War II.
Although the U.S. government has so far sent down about 38 million doses of two nationally approved vaccines, only 17.5 million have been given, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have announced.
Beden also promised to be transparent and that it would allow scientists to work free of political interference.
I am convinced that the American people are willing to spare no effort to do so. We can do this if we're together”, Biden said.
Later, the leading medical adviser, Anthony Fauci, spoke of the distribution of vaccines and said the Biden administration is strengthening “ ” programme.
If, as hoped, 70-85% of the population is vaccinated by the end of the summer, we will have “a degree of normal” by autumn, Fauci said.
He said his main concern is to convince people who are skeptical about the vaccine to take it.
Fauci added that the administration is in talks with producers to produce more vaccines.
Fauci, who has also served under Trump, welcomed the new administration's attitude toward science.
The “Ide that you can come here and talk about what you know and what the evidence is, what science is... is a release feeling”, Dr. Fauci said.
The Trump administration has been criticised for lack of federal-level strategies.
