Voters registered abroad removed from voting lists in Kosovo

There is only a little time left when the Central Election Commission (KQZ) is expected to come up with the detailed report on the application period to register as voters outside Kosovo. CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi has said that all those successfully registered as voters outside Kosovo would [...]
CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi has said that all those who have successfully registered as voters outside Kosovo will leave the voter list in Kosovo.
“The Central Election Commission must compile the voter list outside Kosovo, which contains the data of those voters who have successfully registered as voters outside Kosovo and must remove these names from the voter list, which is distributed in the polls across Kosovo on February 14th”, he has said.
Elez stressed that in a very short term, there will be a detailed report for voters abroad.
“The CEC, respectively, will draft a detailed report on the period of application to register as voters outside Kosovo. In this report we will have a clear understanding of how many citizens have managed to register successfully as voters outside Kosovo and how many of them have been rejected because they have not met the criteria defined by law”, he adds.
As for the period of voting via mail, Elez suggests that it will be realised in a 10-day term, either from February 2nd to February 12th.
All those citizens who will register successfully as voters abroad will be able to vote via post by February 2nd. The Law for General Elections in the Republic of Kosovo has determined that the balloting should be accepted on the part of the CEC prior to election day. Thus, the period of voting through mail takes place from February 2 to February 12,”, he lets it know.
Meanwhile at the CEC meeting held Friday, the chief executive head of the secretariat, Burim Ahmetaj, has announced that there are over 174 thousand applicants through the e-mail for the February 14th election, which was expected to end yesterday. As he added that these data are preliminary and the number can change since there are times when many apps have been sent through an email.
