Turkey takes NATO command at peak of tensions with Greece

In this command, which is part of the NATO Response Force, approximately 4 200 troops will serve under the 66th Mechanised Infantry Brigade of Turkey and a total of 6400 soldiers, including units from Albania, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, the U.S.A.
NATO has assessed Turkey's key “investment” for the Alliance entity, “particularly in planning logistical requirements and ammunition”. According to NATO, the latest models of Turkish armed vehicles and antitank missiles are designated for the Turkish direction of this command.
This command was established in 2014 at a NATO summit in Britain in response to a change in the security environment, such as Russia's destabilising activities in Ukraine and unrest in the Middle East.
