The outgoing American President Donald Trump decreed lifting restrictions on flights from the Schengen area and Brazil on January 26th, while those from China and Iran will remain in force.
However, the upcoming Biden administration has responded that restrictions will remain.
Trump, who is expected to leave the office in less than 48 hours, said in a statement that the US “unlimited “in the US” of people from the Schengen area, Great Britain, Ireland and Brazil “is no longer harmful to US interests”, reports ATS.
He said the decision was taken based on health advice from the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which issued an order that goes into effect on January 26th.
The CDC requires all passengers travelling to the U.S. to secure the test of a mutual negative test, Covid-19.
Immediately after Trump's announcement, a spokesman for US President-elect Joe Biden said the future administration “has no intention of lifting” restrictions on international travel.
