Tomorrow 30 samples are sent to Berlin to verify whether there is a new option of COVID-19 in Kosovo

As new versions of the COVID-19 have begun to spread in many countries, it is still unknown in Kosovo whether there are cases infected with these variants. This, since one option other than the one present, cannot be detected locally. Therefore, samples received by patients must [...]
30 randomly selected samples will be sent to a Berlin laboratory Monday to see if any other version of the COVID-19 virus is circulated in Kosovo.
Until the verification of any other version of this virus cannot be done locally, the World Health Organization is helping Kosovo send samples to other countries.
The director of the Department of Microbiology at the National Institute of Public Health, Xhevat Jakupi, has told Express that they have accidentally collected 40 samples, but that about 30 of them will be sent to Berlin tomorrow.
He stressed that they have no information on when to answer these samples.
“samples are picked at random. We've collected 40 samples, but they usually don't allow much to be sent, so we're seeing the possibility of sending 30 samples. They will be sent to WHO's “Charite” University in Berlin, which is one of WHO's reference labs. We don't have information as long as we're backed up, depending on how they're gonna process this”, he said.
Jakupi has indicated that for sending samples abroad they applied several weeks ago, and that all expenses around their transportation will be covered by the World Health Organization.
“All the expenses about transportation cover a WHO program, for delivering samples for flu and coronary. That's why it's just a licensed company and we applied a few weeks ago. They have confirmed Monday that they will be arriving at the lab and will be taken and taken there by plane”, he stressed.
Asked whether it is working for suspected samples to be verified in Kosovo, Jakupi has said such a thing is not a priority.
He has indicated that there is still no information that the new version represents a more serious clinical mirror, or greater mortality, so there is no special role.
He's also saying that even next month, they can send some samples abroad.
There is no indication that this option represents any more severe clinical mirror, which causes greater mortality, or doesn't affect vaccines. There's no special role. Right now we diagnose as variants, as no variant, so let's see how the results are coming up. We can send back some samples in the next month”, he added.
The new coronary variation, originally discovered in Britain, has spread to many other countries.
COVID-19's new mutation is thought to be 70 percent more transmitted.
Another new strain of COVID-19 has already spread to South Africa as well as Japan.
