For the first time in the Prime Minister Eston will be a woman. Finally, it seems that the two largest political parties in Estonia have reached agreement to form the new government, which will be led by Kaya Kallas.

Media suggest that the party council of the Cheese Centre, the Reform Party and the Centre Party Council have voted on Sunday in favor of joining a cabinet led by Kaya Kallas, who also heads the Reform Party.

Both parties “It will form the government, which will continue to face the pandemic crisis, advance Estonia and develop all areas and regions of our state.”, these parties have said through a statement.

The new government will replace the preliminary cabinet, which has failed in the wake of a corruption scandal earlier this month. Prime Minister Yuri Ratas resigned on January 13th because of the scandal, but insisted that he personally did nothing wrong.

His resignation has resulted in the dissolution of the government coalition, so President Kerstie Kaljulayid has asked Kallas to form the new government.

Kaljulaid is also the first woman president of this country.

Kaya Kallas, a lawyer and former European Parliament lawmaker, has led the Reform Party since 2018.
