Switzerland has been criticised for its <x0-Location strategy” of buying vaccines and the slow spread of vaccines.
“Switzerland has played too much Tactical and has ordered only from potential producers a piece of the vaccine it really needs”, the former sv said. Federal Public Health Office Director (FOPH), Andreas Faller in the SontagsZeiung newspaper on January 3rd.
“Switzerland should have taken a certain risk by ordering enough from each producer for the entire population. People are dying, the economy is damaged, every minute is precious. It is understandable that FOPH was so reluctant to buy the” vaccine, he added further.
The aim of the Swiss government is to vaccinate six million people by summer, meaning up to 70,000 vaccines a day. Switzerland has earmarked 15.8 million doses of vaccines from three different producers. So far it has received an initial collection of 107,000 Devido-19; another 250,000 will follow in January. The first vaccines began on December 23rd.
Rudolf Minsch, a economist in the influential group of the business lobby Économie Sousse, also condemned the slow spread of vaccines and its potential impact on the economy.
“Switzerland has the world's second most expensive healthcare system. If we can't vaccinate the population until the summer, I don't get it at all”, he told NZZ am Sonta.
