A Russian helicopter pilot who was considered a hero after contributing to the minimized effects of Chernobyl disaster, enduring deadly radiation levels, changed his life as a result of the coronobrus.
General Nikolai Antoskin passed away at a local hospital at the age of 78.
Antoskin commanded an operation to shut down reactor 4 at Chernobyl station after it exploded in 1986.
The radioactive cloud that emerged from this explosion covered the Soviet Union and Europe with radiation, with ecologists calling it the greatest environmental disaster man - made in history.
General Antoskin, at the time, led a fleet of 100 helicopters to close the core of the sand reactor and other materials, blocking in a way the large flow of radiation.
The operation lasted about two weeks, with General Antoskin and other pilots exposed to the deadly radiation rays stemming from the reactor.
