Mr. Putin congratulated his US counterpart on winning the presidential election, according to a statement by Kremlin.
Both sides agreed to remain in contact, the BBC reports, translates Periscopi.
Former US President Donald Trump was accused by his critics of being too mild and respectful to Mr. Putin.
But even former President Barack Obama in whose administration Beden was vice president was also criticised for failing to control Russia for annexing the Crimea and occupying the eastern part of Ukraine. /Periscope
