Two homosexuals prayed for mercy until they were scourged for 77 times per person in Indonesia, a country that functions under Sheriat's law.
Tens of citizens were witnesses when young people aged 27 and 29, endured severe pain and prayed for mercy, when five persons dressed in special clothes and covered faces struck them, the Telegrafi broadcast.
The duo was arrested in November last year after neighbours reported suspicious activities and police entered the rented room, occupying them during the sexual act, has announced Haru Triwiannarko, chief of police.
However, during the scourge, they are allowed to drink water and rest for a few seconds. Each of them has been hit 77 times and reportedly served a three - month prison sentence earlier.
Four others on the same day have been flogged 40 times for alcohol consumption or dating members of the opposite sex. /Telegraphy/
