Selmanaj: In 30 years of activity, Kurt's collapse the best decision, Osman's nomination the worst experiment

LDK member in this interview has also spoken of the coalition with Vetevendosje Movement and the running of Vjosa Osmani for prime minister. Both cases say there have been time requirements, but bad experiments on Kosovo and the Democratic League, from which to learn.

The incumbent deputy prime minister further says the coalition's collapse with Vetevendosje Movement has been one of LDK's biggest and best decisions in the 30 years of political activity.

In this interview with Express, Selmanaj says that from the first few days, they had seen things going down, since VV) had thought that LDK would submit to Kurti.

Coalition collapse says a major push has given Kurt's stance against the US and the sanctions Washington has imposed on Kosovo.

I think after 20 years America imposes sanctions, a creature of itself, that's sad only to think about. The first phase was MCC funds, the second phase stopping co-operation with KSF, troop withdrawal, halting USAID funds. Asked if you think Avdullah Hoti's candidacy has been the right decision of the LDK, considering that Hoti has been a protagonist of all recent events, Selmanaj says they have made it the best possible, since, according to him, Hoti has worked very well.

Selmanaj, in this interview, has also talked about the departure of Vjosa Osmani and about whether this departure has caused damage to LDK in the field. He says everyone will be convinced on February 14th that the removal of Vjosa Osman will have no impact on the outcome the LDK will receive.

“The LDK has been at the worst time under the direction of Mr. Avdyli. I don't know if they were meant to destroy the branch. Express has also asked Selmanaj about Vjosa Osmani's controversial statement made in the Kosovo Parliament, when he says he will never join the Vetevendosje Movement, since Kurti around himself has gathered people of PDK and former - LPKs.

He says that for the first part of the declaration, as, according to him, Vetevendosje is the PDK branch or even the variation of the LPK. But Selmanaj says that for the second half, Osman's co-operation with Kurti, a study should be done to see if it was the previous scenario.

But for this second part afterwards, how someone from LDK) decides to go into the LPK's variation, it's a very absurd decision, just to study whether this was an earlier scenario, and then try something bad for the LDK. As for the Kurti-Osman deal and the division of positions, Slemanaj says both are only interested in their own fate and are able to step on anything to build their career.

According to Selmanaj, it would be bad news for Kosovo if Albin Kurti were elected prime minister of the country, since he considers that VV) leader needs another 10 years to mature politically, since he says Kurti has vague and dangerous ideas.

I believe people will reflect and still will not be deceived by Mr. Kurt. I believe Kurt needs another decade to mature. For now, only harms Kosovo”, Selmanaj has said.

Selmanaj has criticised Kurti for his stances about the fight against corruption. LDK official says it is okay to criticise Thaci, but ask how such a thing can be done by Kurti, when Rexhep Selimi is in the party.

But what is the difference between Hashim Thaci and Rexhep Selimi? I can't find any difference. The corrupt, rich after the war, during the war and after the war, unknown, poor decisions for Kosovo. If he becomes prime minister, Selmanaj says Kurti will repeat the same fate and that he will be able to stay more than 150 days at the helm of the government.

Asked whether the Democratic League of Kosovo has red lines for Vetevendosje, Selmanaj has said that the scope of co-operation with Kurti's party is well restricted for a period of time. Selmanaj says the LDK would need not to view VVA as an option, even if co-operation is offered.

It's not a problem to remove red lines with VVU. We have experienced this and was harmful. At this stage I see it of no benefit, and I believe that LDK will make such a decision, that even if an opportunity of co-operation is offered, the VVA will not see it as the option for co-operation”, it has suggested.

In the end, Selmanaj has also spoken about his nomination for MP and the future of the dialogue process. He for Express confirmed that he will be on the list for deputies, until he adds that the basis of negotiation has been established for the dialogue process.

There is a correction of borders, there is no question about the entity of the state and that the solution will be in the constitutional spirit. I'm sure no big decision can be made without LDK. I am convinced that the process with Serbia will be completed.
