He claimed that the US is now less likely to deal with this group when it is “buried deep” in the Asian state.
The New York Times reported in November that Abu Muhammad al-Masri, accused of organising bomb attacks on embassies in Africa, was killed in Iran by Israeli operatives, but Iran denied the accusations, saying there were no “terrorist” by Al-Qaeda, Reuters reports.
Pompeo said at a press conference in Washington that Al-Masri was killed on August 7th last year and that his presence in Iran did not surprise him.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif dismissed Pompeo's allegations on Twitter, calling them “shocking war lies”.
