I beg God to lead Joe Biden in promoting understanding, reconciliation and peace in the United States and among the nations of the world to promote universal good. In a time of serious crisis, I hope that the decisions of Trump's successor will be guided by concern to build an authentic society of justice and freedom”.
Following violent events at the U.S. Congress on January 6th, when supporters of former US President Donald Trump entered vigorously as lawmakers were certified the election result, Pope Francescu called on Americans to show their <x0 sense of responsibility”.
I urge state authorities and the entire population to show a high sense of responsibility in order to calm anger, promote national reconciliation and protect the democratic values rooted in American society”, the pope said.
