By noon Saturday at the Central Election Commission, 10 political subjects have applied. It's seven political parties and three civic initiatives, with a total of 210 candidates.
That is how KosovoPress, Central Election Commission spokesman Valmir Elez, points out that today is the last day of surrender of lists with candidates for MPs who, after the confirmation, compete for seats in the Kosovo Parliament.
Until the moment we're talking, so by noon, the number of political subjects that have applied is a total of 10 political subjects. It's seven political parties and three civic initiatives. Their total number is 210 candidates”, Elez says.
Political subjects who have submitted their lists with candidates for MPs are mainly from the community.
“are the United Roma Party of Kosovo with 33 candidates, then Jedinvena Goranska Partija with 16 candidates, Srpska List with 20 candidates, the Ballist Party with 5 candidates, Social Democratic Party Unija with 22 candidates, the Democratic Party of Kosovo with 44 candidates and the Movement for Co-operation with 35 candidates. Meanwhile, from civic initiatives we have Romani Initiative with 12 candidates, Ujedinja Zajednica-Adriana Hodzic with 13 candidates and the Kosovo Roma Progressive Movement with 10 candidates”, Elez adds.
According to CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi, the lists with the names of candidates for MPs will be sent to five other institutions besides the Kosovo Judiciary Council.
“In order to implement the Constitutional Court's act and the Law for General Elections will co-operate with other institutions, which have their role in the process of certificate of candidates. The CEC will submit lists to six institutions. At the Kosovo Judiciary Council, at PZAP, at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Defence and the Kosovo Agency for Intelligence. Aimed to verify candidates under Article 29 of the Law for General Election. This requirement on the part of the CEC will take place as far as January 18th, while responses from these institutions are expected until January 20th,”, Elesi reports.
On 1 February, the cast of political parties' rankings on the ballot will take place, while elections will be held on February 14th.
