One of the most advanced institutions in time of pandemic was the Kosovo Police. Of this institution are 12 police officers who have lost their lives and about 1140 infected with the Codov-19 pandemic.
At the beginning of the pandemic with the police has been observed lack of masks and disinfectors. But by the time municipalities enter quarantine, I notice the absence of vehicles and police members. There were several municipalities that offered vehicles to the police, while because of the lack of police, there were cases when the designated person managed to cross quarantine into municipalities and the student center.
During this time, 1235 people have been arrested and 1760 cases opened for those who have not respected the measures, and Kosovo police orders.
From Kosovo police, it was one of the main challenges of the Kosovo Police that were the Government's frequent and swift decisions on anti-visu measures, but also lack of health insurance.
Police Union Deputy Chairman Shaban Tasholli has said health insurance and disability pension is of concern for the Kosovo Police.
Tashloli has said of Kosova Prees, that the Kosovo Police budget is also a concern for them, as these do not even have working conditions to carry out their duties.
There were 1140 infected police officers yesterday, while 12 policemen lost their lives. There are no health insurance, and the only policeman in Europe or even in the world who has no health insurance. It is this concern for the Kosovo Police, which is not being realised. We have tremendous costs, different diseases, plus we don't have disability. I mean, now it's a cop with different diseases, at 50 years of age, who is sick to work in the police because he's cut off from his salary... I'm not talking about the early pension they also owe the KSF, which they meet at 55. This too has been ongoing and it's never been accomplished”, Tashlo said.
He has said the Kosovo Police Union is disappointed with the budget for the Kosovo Police for 2021, since, as he says in the police, it has an extended vest, lack of equipment, but also the clothing is not at the right level.
The next year's <x0.>10 million budget is less budget... we have an over 80 per cent-term antinegotiated, we lack long arms, we lack cars, we lack autobages, plus we don't have clothing at the right level and now it's 10 million less. The union is unhappy with this budget the government has envisioned for 2021”, Tasholli says.
Kosovo Police spokesman Baki Kelani has said that he has been constantly sought by state institutions for Kosovo police to have health insurance, but also on other issues that are related to logistics, which are obstacles to the Kosovo Police, but nothing has been done.
We are constantly looking to the state institutions, constantly for years, for Kosovo Police to ensure health insurance and all other requirements related to the issue. These are obstacles to the Kosovo Police, but other issues that are related in the logistics aspect”, Kelani has said.
Kelan also pauses in the confrontation of the Unedemia Police, saying that he seized cases when citizens have not welcomed anti-covised measures, even rejected them.
According to him, during the time of the pandemic, 1234 persons have been arrested who have not respected the anti-anticovid measures.
There have been certain cases when citizens have not welcomed a decision or... not allowed access to a certain location, but we have had purpose. The prevention of spreading pandemic and preserving public health, preserving the lives of citizens. When we have encountered misunderstandings on the part of citizens, we have tried to solve them with the best and easiest methods. In those cases when decisions on the part of citizens have been rejected, the normal that Kosovo Police have taken comfortable legal authorisation measures that they have... in those cases when the decisions of institutions are not respected have taken action according to the criminal code, where they have opened close to 1760 cases, and I can say that Kosovo police have arrested 1235 people”, Kelani said.
While a member of the Commission for Security and Defence Affairs, Ganimetee Musliu has said that despite questions they have addressed as a security commission to the former defence minister why they do not have police health insurance, she adds that they have received only negative answers.
This is a very confusing subject, unfortunately we haven't done anything in this direction. We know this is a law that has budgetary costs, we've addressed it several times. I personally have addressed the matter several times in the ministry, in this case at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and I have asked the former minister parliamentary questions, not this current one, because this year has been under guard, and in the inability to do our job properly, but I have asked him questions about when the Kosovo Police will have health insurance, unfortunately he has received negative answers, and even today, Kosovo's police are <ex1>, Musliu said.
Musliu has said that whatever government will come to power, the issue of health insurance for the Kosovo Police, should have priority, because if Kosovo has police with integrity, there will be a country of integrity.
According to her, if the country's institutions do not treat Kosovo police properly, it is difficult to expect them to carry out their work more tense and responsible.
This topic, the future government anyone who comes to power, should have a priority because it's a matter that directly affects the security of the state and not only the security of the police or the health of the police, because if we have high moral officers with integrity, then you have a state of integrity and morality. If you don't treat the Kosovo Police properly, who in any case should be on the front lines in different situations, then it's hard to expect them to do their work with high honour and responsibility. A policeman who has neither health nor health insurance nor vital problems being there, given that he has a family and the consequences the police are having after the shares, Musliu said.
Musliu has added that it is necessary and however much time is wasted in this direction, the damage has been much greater, given that Kosovo Police, then will not have the will and willingness to be at the site and time of the event, when they are threatened and attacked by various gangs.
