Representatives of Pfizer and the same have confirmed that they are in talks with the Government of Kosovo, but have not yet signed any agreements.
We have “after talks with Government. To reach agreement it must be signed. While not yet signed by both sides, we cannot comment on it”, Urska Lakner, company manager for the Adriatic region, has declared.
Lakner has stressed that Pfizer and BioNTech will work closely with all governments, including Kosovo, to provide access to the vaccine. But it has stated that details from the talks remain confidential, wrote the Schneta newspaper.
Health Minister Armenmen Zemaj stated days ago that he received confirmation from the Pfizer company for securing 500 thousand doses of the vaccine.
“Sic we made it known yesterday, under the concrete commitments of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and the Health Ministry for providing vaccines against COVID-19, we received confirmation from Pfizer Company for the security of 500,000 doses of this vaccine. We received this confirmation yesterday after a series of meetings and negotiations with this company, whose vaccine is the first to be approved for use, under global anti-protection efforts. COVID-19” has declared Zemaj.
According to Zemaj during this week, only the finalisation of technical aspects remains.
Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti has also stated that the group, which negotiates the acquisition of vaccines on behalf of the Government, has concreteised talks with Pfizer on securing the vaccine.
“Zyrtarly, formally, following talks by the Health Ministry group that negotiates the security of vaccines on behalf of the Government, talks with Pfizer for 535 thousand vaccines were concreteised yesterday. Talks with Austria have been concreteised for 600 thousand vaccines, and Covax has earlier been conducted for 720 thousand vaccines. We've secured the budget as you know it's been adopted, 40m euros are only earmarked for vaccines, and we're prepared for this process. We expect that the first vaccines will arrive in February”, Hoti has declared.
Otherwise, COVAX has declared that the first vaccines for Kosovo could be sent by the end of June only to health workers, while the rest by the end of December.
