Signing this agreement on the continuation of the “Enhancing Your Employment” project for another four years was made today by Thomas Cally, Switzerland's ambassador to Kosovo, and Skender Recica, acting minister of Labour and Social Management.
“The aim of this project is to reduce the high rate of youth unemployment, facilitating the transition phase from schooling to work for young people and young people. In this case Ambassador Cally stressed the importance of the private sector's close engagement at both the central and local level.
The initiative is based on achievements and lessons learned in previous stages (2013- 2020). Thanks to developing important skills for the labour market and providing more efficient information for the private sector and for job seekers, over 55,000 young people have found jobs over the past 8 years”, media reports say.
Between 2021-2024, 3,000 young people are expected to find work through this project.
Support measures will include a) informal and industry-led training aimed at complying with their skills with labour market needs; b) improved career guidance and labour mediation services.
The (EUR 4’762’000) project is funded by the Swiss Office for Development and Co-operation (SDC) and implemented by a consortium between the Helvetas Swiss Intercoperation and Management Development Associations.
