Cars were stolen in Greece, documents forged, 11 Albanians arrested

Police officers from the Space Crime and Tracking Department in Athens disbanded a criminal organisation that carried out auto thefts in different areas of Athens, which forged and sold them.
In order to break up the criminal organisation, a co-ordinated police operation was conducted in the morning hours of today by the Spata Artemis Bureau of Investigation and Criminal Denial, in areas of Athens, during which 13 members of the organisation, aged 22 and 38, were arrested on the basis of arrest warrants. They are 11 Albanians and 2 Greeks.
Top Channel An indictment was filed against them for formation and membership in a criminal organisation that carried out distinctive auto thefts in co-operation, in series and professionally, counterfeiting, fraud and money laundering.
As revealed by the investigation of police officers from the Spata émes Crime Investigation Department, members of the organisation, since March 2023, had established and joined a criminal organisation aimed at professional and repeat theft of vehicles from the Athens areas and later forging stolen vehicle registration data with the aim of selling them.
Concretically, members of the criminal group stole vehicles from the areas of Athens and then removed the original parts containing the number of vehicle fountains and at the same time falsified the number of chesss for the purpose of selling them.
Thus, suspects from <x0-legalized” vehicles in question and were prepared for sale.
At the same time, it was found that members of the criminal organization made false statements about stealing vehicles, aimed at collecting insurance compensation, thus benefiting illegal financial benefits.
During the several-month police investigation, 36 vehicles were found and seized a total of 36 vehicles, 19 of which, after a specialised technical inspection, were designated as stolen with forged registration documents and returned to their legal owners.
During the police operation, six vehicles were found in the homes of those arrested, and six vehicles were seized, car key copying equipment, diagnostic device ECU of vehicles, special tools for bravas opening, geocalation systems, a large number of mobile phones and computers, two copyable pistols, knives, 30,000 euros, etc.
During the preliminary investigation by police officers from the Bureau of Investigation and Pea Criminal Investigations Artemida, 33 cases of auto theft and 9 cases of false stealing statements were investigated.
The total financial benefit of the criminal organisation is estimated to reach 1,000,000 euros.
The detainees were escorted to the competent prosecution body, while investigations into the full definition of their criminal activity continue.
