Journalists attack, Rexha: They're organized to delegate their work.

Kosovo Journalists' Association Board Chairman Xhemajl Rexha has declared that the climate for the exercise of journalism in Kosovo remains difficult, citing continued and organised attacks on journalists.

Rexha said discussions with different journalists and reports point to serious challenges facing the country's journalism profession.

The reports we had the chance to discuss with fellow journalists and share their experiences confirm the very difficult climate of becoming journalism in Kosovo. Of course, part of the report also deals with the conditions of journalists within the editorials, which is a particular interest of ours, but there are ongoing attacks, especially when they are organised and synchronized, that are done with efforts to delegate the work of journalists”, Rexha said in Klan Kosova.

According to him, there is a deliberate approach to lowering journalists' credibility as individuals so that their investigative work can be questioned when it relates to institutions or government.

So, from the beginning it is a well-advised strategy of Vetevendosje Movement to pre-communicate journalists as individuals so that their work cannot be believed, even when they offer facts and evidence a research or something that links this government to any relationship to corruption or similar. This is discouraging to see”.

“Of course, it may be discouraging for many new journalists, but at the end of the day we see that the overwhelming majority of journalists in Kosovo and the media do a professional job and are determined to continue their work in public interest, with the cost and personal that many individuals take from”, he said.
