Pence calls Harris to congratulate the election.

This is the first contact between new administration officials and the outgoing US administration, reports the Associated Press.

Outgoing President Donald Trump has not yet congratulated President-elect Joe Biden on winning the November 3rd, 2020 elections.

Trump claimed there was fraud in the election, but he didn't give evidence of these claims. On January 6, his supporters attacked the U.S. Congress at the time that Benden's election victory was certified.

The Pence spoke to Harris on Thursday and it is said that they have developed a good “ ”, said people who were aware of this conversation. He has reportedly congratulated Harris and offered his support.

This phone call between Pence and Harris comes when there is less than a week left when Biden and Harris will be inaugurated as US president and vice president.

The US is preparing for the Biden inauguration, and thousands of National Guard troops are deployed in Washington, following the attack on Congress where five people were killed. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has warned of the possibility of armed protests across the country.
