Prior to that, they voted by 82 votes to avoid the Parliament's regulation for considering the demand to submit the Kosovo Security Forces contingent to Iowa.
Word prior to the vote also reached Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti and Defence Minister Anton Quinn. The latter praised the US request for co-operation with KSF in peacekeeping missions.
The government of the Republic of Kosovo has undertaken all procedural and legal actions for sending KSF to Iowa. The government of the Republic of Kosovo, according to legal requirements, has sent its decision to the Kosovo Assembly. Today, I invite you to confess to worldly friends that we are able to face our responsibility. By voting this proposal, you will write a new and extremely important page on the road to international security of the Republic of Kosovo. The people of Kosovo as few peoples in the world understand the importance of peacekeeping missions”, Prime Minister Hoti said.
The head of the defence dictatorship has said that KSF's work is being assessed even beyond borders.
“The Defence Ministry as the government's responsible dictator for defence and security, according to the US request, concerning co-operation in providing missions for regional stability, has considered demand and responded positively. The defence ministry has co-ordinated operations through diplomatic and legal routes. Kosovo already has a tradition of co-operation with Iowa. The dedication, integrity and professionalism of KSF is not only being assessed at the highest rates by Kosovo citizens, but it is also being assessed internationally”, he said.
Meanwhile, Parliamentary Commission for Security and Defence Affairs Chairman Fatmire Kolcak has been criticising the current government for budget cuts against KSF, which were held over the past year.
“The decisions this government has made are in full violation of the KSF transition plan to the military. With this budget seen by this government, new capacities” cannot be advanced, it has declared.
The Defence Security Affairs Commission has recommended that the Parliament adopt such proposal by the Parliament's deputies.
The opposition 7th legislature has accused the government of delaying the pre-emptive request for sending KSF troops abroad. They recalled that the Constitutional Court's decision, if it came, would bring down the government and unable to vote like that.
The KSF, for the current year in a row, has been voted the most reliable institution in Kosovo.
