This, with the reason to curb the spread of the coronary, while authorities fear that they can register increased cases because of new, more contagious versions of the virus.
Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said that keeping the distance will be harsh, and now citizens are obliged to keep two metres apart and not a meter as it once was. They also need to wear protective masks when using public transportation and when they enter stores and can no longer use cloth masks.
Austria had decided on the isolation measure from December 26th of last year, and was presuming that move to be in effect until January 24th.
Kurz said Austria must lower its infection rate in 50 new cases to 100,000 residents over the next seven days. Currently, Austria has 131 cases of 100,000 inhabitants.
The Austrian Chancellor also said the reopening of shops, schools and other services, such as hair salons, would happen on 8 February. But, he added, reopening restaurants and hotels will not happen over the next month.
According to Johns Hopkins University data, since the beginning of the pandemic, Austria has recorded over 393,000 cases of coronary. Of them, over 7,000 patients have died.
