The confirmation has come as Japan's prime minister, Yoshihide Suga, has said the government will take “several days” to decide whether to expand emergency measures to other mayors as well. Tokyo is already being applied.
Japan's National Institute for Infectious Diseases has said that there is no evidence at present if the new version of coronary found in four persons from Brazil is more contagious and if it is more likely to cause serious symptoms.
Takay Wakita, head of the Institute, has said that the discovered version has similarities with the variants that are spreading to Great Britain and South Africa.
The ministry has said four infected people have come to Japan on January 2nd from the Brazilian Amazon. They have proved positive after quarantine at the airport. Out of four, a man in the 40s is hospitalized because of breathing difficulties.
