The Global Drugs Survey [ The 2020 GDS suggests that the problem of drinking alcohol is far more dangerous than using any other drug. More than 5 percent of youths under 25 years of age have reported seeking hospital treatment compared with the global average of 2 percent.
The GDS report points out: “Search for emergency medical treatment is a serious consequence of drinking alcohol, at cost in health care, and at cost to the individual. ”
The acceptance of people who drank alcohol in United Kingdom hospitals was higher than the acceptance of people who took any drugs other than heroin, writes The Guardian, says Periscope.
People in Scotland and England had said that they were drunk more than 33 times in the past year. This was higher than the figure of all 25 other countries, and twice the rate of several European states, including Poland, Hungary, Germany, Greece, Spain, Italy and Portugal.
The global average was just over 20 times, with Colombians getting drunk only 6.5 times a year. /Periscope
