The next day, the Albanian royal court confirmed the news. The 22-year-old Countess, daughter of the late Count Gyula Apponyi, former Hungarian officer and Virginia Stewart, the daughter of an American diplomat, was Catholic and worked at the Budapest National Museum against a small fee.
The news is published after Zogu and Geraldine liked each other. Geraldine had met with King Zog in December 1937, with the mediation of the monarch's sister.
Geraldine went to Albania, and within days the couple were engaged. Known as Hungary's White Rose, on the eve of marriage, Geraldine was raised to royal status as Albania's Princess Geraldine.
She became queen of Albanians and until the end shared her destiny with her husband on good and difficult days. After King Zog's death, Geraldine preferred to be known as the Queen's Mother.
In June 2002, it returns from South Africa to live in Albania, where it died on October 22, 2002.
