So writes Al Jazeera, under which the medium, Iranian judiciary spokesman Gholamhosseen Esmaili announced during a press conference Tuesday that Iran has asked international police organisations to arrest Trump and 47 other American officials identified as playing a role in the murder of senior General Qasssem Solemani last year.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran is seriously pursuing the pursuit and punishment of those who ordered and executed this crime”, Esmail was quoted as telling reporters.
Solejmani, Iran's top general, who led the Islamic Revolutionary Guard's external operations arm, was killed on 3 January 2020, in an attack on American fears in Baghdad, ordered by Trump.
This was the second Iranian request for an international arrest warrant for Trump and dozens of US officials at the Pentagon and the US Central Command, among other organisations.
In June, Tehran prosecutor Ali Alqasimehr issued an arrest warrant for Trump and dozens of American officials, saying they face “akuza for murder and terrorism”.
But for example, France-based Interpol rejected Iran's request, saying its constitution prohibits it from undertaking “any interference or activities of political, military, religious or racial character”.
The renewed talks on prosecution of Trump and other US officials come as part of Iranian promises to take revenge on Soleiman, a year after his murder in an attack on American fears in Iraq.
They also come shortly before Trump leaves office on January 20th, something Iran hopes can increase its chances of facing consequences.
