Albin Kurti has reacted to the situation in which the country is located after the floods.
In a Facebook writing where he even attached photographs of what different locations in Kosovo look like, Kurti writes that he highlighted the failures of 20-year-old ill-government”.
Kurti has warned they will ask the prosecution to launch investigations into road builders.
He writes:
It is alarming the situation in which Kosovo finds itself after the heavy rainfall and subsequent floods. Rarely have there been any place where the sewers have not been blocked or broken, while all regional water pipeline companies are applying restrictions because water factories cannot afford to clean up water disturbed by the floods.
I also lamented that the home of the Mother Ferdonija Cerkezi has also been damaged by the floods that have affected Gjakova. Gjilan, Drinas, Ferizaj, Fushe-Kosovo, Vushtrria, Klina, Malisevo, Lipjan, Prizren and other municipalities, and several locations in Pristina have also flooded over the past few days. Injuries have resulted in many agricultural and livestock farms, but also the first floors, residences, and local trade sites in cities. Automobiles and other property of citizens have also been damaged.
In the face of the forces of nature, man is often small to protect; yet, well - organized countries differ from others just because they are prepared with knowledge and structure to manage such problems at minimum cost.
The people of Kosovo, this functional organisation and this care and defence, are rightly seeking and expecting it from its own state.
But the rain has also highlighted the failures of 20-year-old misgovernance. The apology with which the old parties want to get votes was resurfaced as if it were a wet carpet. The streets were ruined by the collapses of the earth, and we all saw that the layer of asphalt was thin and that it lacked the bases as the engineering standard requires. Forests have been cut without control or plan. River coasts have been ruined by the wild eruptions of the wild. The stonebreakers near the asphalt have eliminated the protection that the hills offer for their surrounding paths.
We will insist that the prosecution immediately open investigations into road builders, owners of stonebreakers, supervisors, but also for politicians who have announced it have made decision for tenders and contests. It has been taken, and it is a sin for this people to pay the very expensive price for roads compared with the region and eventually they are of the lowest quality.
Depleted by the century of occupation, looted by post-war neoliberal policies, weakened by economic crisis and isolation, and in the last year burdened by pandemic, now rains and floods, add to this corruption - a huge burden to our fellow citizens.
However, we are optimistic because the wrongdoing of crime will push us away from power, and we will gradually work together with all those who love honest work, respecting the law, to strengthen us as a country. Work and organization will turn things around.
