Although US-Russia relations remained tense during former President Donald Trump's mandate, he had friendly personal relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Trump has rarely criticised Putin for human rights abuse or for <x0malinje” activities, such as cyber attacks and election interventions.
U.S. intelligence attributed these activities to Russia, but Trump said these crimes could have been committed by other countries as well.
