A statement by Athens Archbishop and all of Greece, Ieronymos, for Islam has questioned talks with Turkey.
Speaking to a media about the 1821 revolution and Church contributions, the head of the Greek Orthodox Church said, among other things “islam is not religion, but a political party and people are people of war”. But after that statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry has reacted. It has condemned the positions of the archbishop, which it has considered absurd.
“We strongly want absurd statements about our religion mentioned in a television interview by Athens Archbishop and all of Greece, Ieronymos. Our great religion is a religion based on the logic of tolerance and compassion that ensures the coexistence of different religions and cultures”, It says in the statement.
It adds that these provocative comments show level Vulnerable “Islamophobia has reached”. At the end of the Turkish Foreign Ministry closes, saying this statement made at a time when talks on the technical level are being prepared is a step undermining the process.
Meanwhile, the Greek church reacted by saying, This does not mean more than the destruction of Muslim religion itself by fundamentalists who watch terror and death in the universe”.
