IKD: 11 applicant candidates on VV) list, two convicted in the last three years

The team of monitors and researchers of the Kosovo Institute for Justice (IKD) has investigated the integrity of the candidates of political parties involved on election lists for early elections, which will be held on February 14th, 2021. IKD research findings show that on the Vetevendosje Movement's election list (LVV) out of 110 candidates for MPs, there are 11 candidates with charges and 2 candidates with outright sentences over the past three years.

Because IKD is the only organization that systematically monitors the treatment of cases in the justice system, it next reflects detailedly, all information about these LVV candidates:

The IKD has consistently contributed to the derimination of the political scene, calling on political parties to freeze the integrity of electoral lists with candidates who have no problem with the law.

The IKD emphasises that these data have been collected from systematic monitoring of public court hearings. So there is a possibility, as has happened in the judicial practice, that there are charges filed against specific politicians, that may be on these lists, but that have not yet been made public. Anyway, The IKD will also investigate the following days to complete any information on any candidate on the election lists.

The IKD will publish the data of all candidates who are on the election lists of all political parties and coalitions, based on monitoring data from the justice system.
