Kosovo's Hydromethorological Institute has announced that in the wake of rainfall, floods have been caused in some areas in the country, while such a situation has contributed to the rapid melting of snow.

The IHPC stresses that the maximum rainfall is registered in Junik and Gjakova, while throughout the country's rivers, the level is declining, Kosovo reports.

Total notification of IHMK's:

Following heavy rainfall during the beginning of this year (2021), which has swept the entire territory of the Republic of Kosovo, have caused widespread flooding through several areas of the country. Such a situation has also contributed to the rapid melting of snow in parts.

Rain intensity in some countries has been very high, so from 01.01.2021 to 12,01.2021:00 p.m. on average in Kosovo (l/m2). The largest of them has fallen to the Dukagjin Plains, including the mountainous area, at an average of 139.8m. The maximum rainfall is recorded in the June 196.8mm and Gjakova 196.1.

Most of the rainfall has been recorded between 09,01,2021, so on the date of 09.01.2021, in Gjakova are registered 57.4mmm of rainfall, Dragash 40.3mm, then on the 1101.2021st, at Ferizaj 29.5 mm, Istog 22.1mmmm, Junik 34.1mmmmmmm, Kamenica 26.3mmmm, Pristina 27.2mmm, Prizren 35.9mm, Tugec, 501m euros, etc.

Kosovo's hydrometeorological Institute has, over the course of the days, been closely following it, the hydrometeorological situation in Kosovo especially with rainfall, water levels in rivers and floods, and has prepared warnings and reports that have published its website: http://ihmk-rks.net, and informed the relevant state institutions, media and broad opinion.

Information has been received in real time by automatic meteorological stations (10) and hydrological stations (10), which have a good coverage of the country's territory. We stress that IHMK, besides these automatic/online stations, also owns a number of weather and rainfall stations that are scattered throughout Kosovo, as well as 20 automatic hydrological stations across different rivers in the country.

During this time of flooding, the hydrology and Hydrological Prognosis sector have also developed hydrometric measurements on the White Drini River, which once served for international exchange of data and predictive models, and especially for paneling institutions in the region and in the concrete case with Albania, which has also faced more flows, these data have served for more accurate forecasts and warning with forecast patterns and contributed to better management of this situation. Likewise, our information has been exchanged with various European institutions, with which IHMK, has co-operation and is a member.

IHMK, in this situation, except regular reports, has driven the situation from the ground, keeping its equipment and technology stations in place, and fortunately with very small damage to some of them.

The current state of river levels in Kosovo:

After the loss of rainfall, during yesterday afternoons, across the country's rivers, where we have automatic measurements and online transfer of data at intervals every 15 and 1h, T E NIVILEVE IT IS NEARN.

Although during the 24h, (saw chart 1), in some of the rivers (or, hydrometeric) are seen rising, especially on rivers: Drine White at the hydrologic station in Gjonaj, then on the Ibri rivers, Sitnica Morava Binca and some small rivers (*), this happens because of the drains that occur from the pond and their field character, but as it was highlighted, even these rivers are declining and that the flow of their levels and flows has now passed.
