He has to lose at least eight kilos, or he will need surgery to treat his long-term financial pain.

Due to the pain the Pope has been forced to miss his meeting at the Vatican and may even cancel his important trip to Iran in the spring.

Yesterday in his audience with the cardinals the Pope was forced to sit down because of the pain.

Francisco told them: “I had to talk to you standing, but you know I have pain in the shiatic nerve, I have a hostile visitor. So I apologize to have to speak to you by sitting down”.

Sources in Rome say that the pope has been advised to eat only small rice meals and many fruits, olive oil, vegetables, and fish.

Doctors have asked him to reduce pasta and pizza while they have stopped eating candy.

One of them said: “if he applies the advice will be fine, but the pope is known for his love of food and appetite”.

Despite the pain, the Pope received the anti-Covid vaccine a few days ago and advised Catholics to follow his example. This was after his personal physician Fabrizio Soccorsi, 78, died of cancer and coronary complications.
