Living Vetevendosje Chairman (LVV) and candidate for Prime Minister Albin Kurti has talked about the possibility of a referendum joining Albania.
He did this in a discussion with Oxford political magazine editors.
Kosovo Constitution says Kosovo cannot join any other state. Serbs, Bosniaks and others are citizens Kosovo, but when Serbia wants to intervene in internal affairs Kosovo, then Kosovo is a weak state to confront Serbia's hegemony. Serbia wants to create Great Serbia after that Belgrade puts pressure on Serbs in states The Balkans are not integrated. We want to have the right to referendum, we don't want to see any form of violence to unite. Kosovo should have the right to referendum, not necessarily to join Albania, but to have the right to referendum. If it is done in peaceful and democratic form then it is joining Albania and we will respect the outcome, but in no way will we launch a third Balkan war so that we join Albania”, Kurti said.
That statement by Kurt came a few days after AAK chairman and presidential candidate Ramush Haradinaj has mentioned exactly the referendum as option if by 2025 there is no epilogue on the Kosovo issue and the country remains on the status quo.
Don't be afraid, Mr. Vuchy. You don't need to be nervous. Kosovo is only seeking what belongs to it. If you and others want to avoid a referendum on Kosovo joining Albania in 2025, there is a very simple way: Serbia recognises Kosovo as an independent state. Kosovo knows its way towards membership in other countries NATO, the EU and the UN. With hysterical rhetoric you will not stop us in our right to define Kosovo's future”, Haradinaj had said.
