He believes that the final comprehensive agreement between Kosovo and Serbia will create a new Kosovo, where the Albanian and Serbian communities will live peacefully next to each other.
” I believe that a final, comprehensive agreement that will complete Kosovo's independence and collective rights and safeguard clauses for Kosovo Serbs will have to create a new Kosovo, which will not be a return in 1999 or 1989, but a new society that will enable Albanian and Serbian communities to live peacefully next to each other for starting”, Weber told Kosovo Online.
According to Weber, 2020 was a year in which the dangerous idea of exchange of territories was finally defeated that, according to him, this idea would satisfy only the personal interests of the two presidents [Thaci and Vucqi] and some irresponsible Western representatives.
Weber estimates that this idea would lead to a collective exodus of Serbs south of Ibër and that Kosovo's north would end, as he said, in an autocratic Serbia with a status similar to Kursumlin.
According to the German analyst, the restoration of dialogue should lead to the start of real negotiations for a comprehensive agreement based on principles from 2014, which he says were then accepted by Belgrade, respectively, that the time for changing borders in the Balkans has passed.
Weber believes Serbia should turn to real policy based on the fact that, it itself is responsible for the loss of Kosovo and that the focus of dialogue should be on normalising bilateral relations and ensuring conditions for the normal life of Serbs in Kosovo.
“I believe that after the framework and principles of negotiations, which include, and that I know from President Vuciq, the recognition of Kosovo from Serbia in a long process of implementing the final agreement, which must be concluded with Serbia's EU accession, real solutions will be found for all open bilateral topics, including this [recognition of Kosovo by Serbia]<18x1>, said Weber.
