The canton health department says individuals over 75 are being vaccinated.
At the moment, there are only three vaccine centers in the canton, but three more will open on Monday, Swiss media write.
The health department says they received 10,500 doses of the Moderna vaccine and 11,700 Pfizer medicine.
This supply, they claim, is not as expected, and other doses must be provided.
Recent figures show Geneva vaccinated 9,000 people Wednesday.
