Former Finance Minister: Economy needs over 1 billion euros to be restored

The economic crisis as a result of pandemic has caused the country major losses. Former Finance Minister Haki Shatri said the process of economic recovery is wounds that cannot be healed within a month or a year. What I think is that in the best case Kosovo will be able to stop the negative trains, hoping even the pandemic will be contained sometime by mid-year and Kosovo will start a better economic growth”.
He defines measures as inadequate where, according to him, the measures have served more for individual welfare, rather than for a proper recovery.
“The measures which have been taken do not believe they are enough, because some more measures have served for an individual or family welfare, a week or two weeks like the brain tools, but not for a proper recovery, but other measures with the exception of the loan guarantee fund are not measures for return of recovery, but only for a daily consumption”.
The credit guarantee fund is viewed as a serious measure, and if handled properly, it can be especially helpful to businesses.
“The funding of loan guarantees, that's a more serious measure, and if managed properly it will be an economic contribution especially to businessloaded by pandemics, where the state guarantees businesses where they are unable to pay as the banks require and thus allow them to take credit under relaxed terms”.
He does not deny that Kosovo's economy is weak and that it has low accumulated capacity. According to him, more than 1 billion euros would have required the budget to return the country in the right direction.
It's hard to say something without real analysis, but I think the economy would have needed a fresh cash container somewhere around 1 billion and 200 million, provided these tools are managed properly and not misused as it did not in the last mandate of governance, but in past”.
I'm afraid there are manipulations in the number of workers who lost their jobs as a result of the pandemic, hoping that people will benefit from the previous part of the budget on the pandemic”.
