The Central Election Commission has reacted after some news on social networks that exiles applying abroad are being contacted by this institution through hidden telephone numbers.
The CEC has clarified that calls are done with numbers that have the prefix of the Republic of Kosovo, +383, and that applicants have the number revealed.
The Central Election Commission informs all applicants who have applied to register as voters abroad that it has begun their verification process by contacting them over the phone.
The CEC is contacting applicants over the phone and from around 2000 people contacted, in the first call made, over 75% of applicants have been called on the phone and their applications have been confirmed.
The Central Election Commission will continue to contact applicants again in order to enable them to verify their application.
The “Numments from which calls are made to confirm applications are prefixed numbers of the Republic of Kosovo, +383, and that applicants are shown the number, so they don't stand by the information that the applicants are being contacted through anonymous”, it says in clarification.
