The writer who lives in the diaspora, Driton Smaj, says the CEC's decision to verify the vote by the diaspora is the right decision.
He writes:
The CEC's decision to verify the vote by the diaspora is the right decision and protects the basic principles of democracy.
Given that the political class is able to play all sorts of games to achieve their political goals, then the likelihood is that individuals assigned to sit in a Berlin coffee shop and fill out thousands of balloting and to send those votes by post in Kosovo.
Do not verify the vote, conflicts with the will to choose, conflicts with determining the will of the people.
The most appropriate approach would have been to have the license to vote in Consulata or in the embassies of Kosovo, but since this has not been organised in time, then verifying the vote over the phone or even through some other form would be the minimum that the CEC would have to do.
Currently, the CEC should also provide an additional service, leave at least ten phone numbers ready to answer at work hours of eight hours a day, where citizens themselves can call from the diaspora and verify the vote.
