The EU Commission has decided to last until 31 December 2021, the provisional scheme of state aid imposed last March to support economies during the pandemic.
Support will continue to be done through direct grants, tax advantages, state loan guarantees, business-subventioned public loans, as has been so far.
“The impact of COVID-19 is still strong, we must act quickly to manage it”, said EU Commission Deputy Chairman Margrethe Vestager.
The European Union has also approved guidelines for the certificate of COVID vaccines for medical purposes to achieve interaction at the European level. The contents of the vaccine certificates will be uniform, with the same set of data.
The initiative comes on the recommendation of COVID's video co-ordination conference of EU leaders last Thursday.
Meanwhile, the debate remains open whether the certificate, in the future, can be used as a COVID passport.
