So far, only 10 political subjects with a total of 210 candidates -- mainly from the ranks of communities -- have submitted to the CEC the application for certificate of voter turnout, as well as the list of candidates' names for MPs.
Following the Constitutional Court Act, which states that the person convicted of criminal offence with a firm-shaped court ruling in the last three years, cannot be a candidate for deputy, the CEC has indicated it would submit lists with the names of all candidates to the Kosovo Judiciary Council ( KGK).
Also, lists with the names of candidates for MPs will be sent to five other institutions besides the KDP -- that is, the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defence, the Kosovo Agency for Intelligence and the Election Panel for Anxiety and Parashta.
According to CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi, the lists with the names of candidates for MPs will be submitted to these institutions as of January 18th, while awaiting answers by January 20th.
“If a candidate is not certified by the CEC, the same will be able to file a complaint on the Election Panel for Ances and Paraseta and then the case can go to the Supreme Court. The entire process of complaints and decision-making by the CEC is scheduled to be concluded by 31 January. The draw of lots for the rankings of political subjects is scheduled to take place on 1 February”, Elesi told Kosovas.
The election campaign for political subjects will begin on 3 February.
