Daka talks about Kurti's candidacy: The decision will apply to all and not only to one person

Central Election Commission Chairman (KQZ) Valdete Daka said that in co-operation with the Judiciary Council they will seek the names of each candidate placed on the election lists, which is sentenced to an all-powerful decision within the last three years. “Political subjects can apply until January 16th as a political party along with [...]
“Political subjects can apply until 16 January as a political party along with their list. They have to apply and bring in all the documentation. There are some pre-lawed procedures, bring the document, candidate lists, the office makes the assessment of these candidates and then by the Judiciary Council, as ordered by the Law, we will ask for the review of these lists and we will ask for all names condemned by an all-mighty criminal act. The CEC then decides whether to certificate these names”, she said, in a show.
Asked about the case of Albin Kurti, who is sentenced to an all-powerful decision within the last three years, Daka said he does not comment on his case.
I will not answer because it will be the CEC's decision, not mine. We're 11 members and we're all going to decide and not just me. There are other candidates, and this will apply to everyone and not only to one person. We'll have the application soon and we don't know who the candidate will be. I won't prejudge and give no answer to”, she said further.
In the event of disappointment, Daka stressed that candidates have a right to complaint.
“A candidate for MP cannot leave the list for just one point and there are many points why a candidate cannot be part of any party's list. If the CEC is not certified, he is entitled to complaint and is then sent to PZAP. If PZAPH decides the same, and if that person is not satisfied again, he may complain until the Supreme Court. The final decision is the Supreme One's, and we respect any bias that emerges from this court”, she has said.
Furthermore, she has said they have asked the Civil Recording Agency to be removed from the voter's list all persons with UNMIK documents. This is because their names are simply loaded, writes the newspaper Express.
“We will ask the Civil Record Agency (ARC) to suspend all those with UNMIK documents. It's about 131,000 citizens who are carrying UNMIK documents. For years they can't vote with those documents but remain there. Most of them have not even been citizens of the Republic of Kosovo”, it said on the “Fropal” show, in T7.
According to her, the number of all these people with UNMIK documents also brings problems to the calculations of the number of citizens being elected.
We've made a decision today to ask the ARC to bring the records in without those names. Instead of having 131,000 less citizens, we have more. Even when the number of citizens to the elections is calculated, we get smaller because of these numbers and there is always room for doubt and manipulation”, she said further.
Daka stressed that about 11,000 people who have passed away during the following year will be removed from the voter list.
There are 11,000 citizens who have died. Someone dies off the list, someone does 18 years, gets on the list, so the list keeps changing. They'll be off the list. It's a good cleanup. There are 142,000 citizens leaving the lists. We don't know how many were added because the list isn't our property”, Daka declared.
Among the first of the CEC stressed that it is important to create a real list, while adding that they have no information about how many citizens will be eligible for voting in this election.
We haven't had any information but I said that danger exists and why don't we have a list of real numbers because we always have a number that's not real. The moment we get the extract we'll know. We don't create the voting list, but we just take the extract and accommodate the citizens at their locations”, Daka has confirmed.
Daka also provided details about the length of the election campaign, to be held from 3 February to 12 February.
We always have very short deadlines, and the campaign has always been 10 days. The Law is regulated that we have been campaigning for a month, but the short term has cut the deadlines, including the” campaign, she claimed.
CEC chief stressed that holding these elections is necessary.
I don't believe the elections will be postponed. We're in a chaotic situation. These choices are necessary, and they must be kept in either the pandemic or the pandemic”, it has declared.
