Central Election Commission Chairman (KQZ) Valdete Daka has said the electoral system in the country needs reform.

According to her, many issues should be clarified among them, even votes outside Kosovo.

Even technical issues should be avoided, she said, so that the same election day problems cannot be repeated.

“Yes, it is now evident that we must have an election reform. There are many issues that need to be changed, there are issues that need to be clarified, and among them there have been votes outside Kosovo, votes from the diaspora, the way they vote”.

So besides many other technical issues that need to be adjusted to the law on elections, then the choice of the chief, which has already been a burden on us because sometimes we have problems related to these selections, technical issues that have the direct implications on election day”.

In addition, Daka said that despite the challenges facing this year as a consequence of the pandemic, they have managed to successfully complete an election process -- the one in Podujevo and North Mitrovica.

It has been a difficult year, not only for the CEC, but for all of us as citizens and as host of institutions”, Daka told Online Economy.

“However we have completed an election process successfully, I am pleased that despite the fact that we are in pandemic time, we have managed to make good choices, which have been accepted by all”.

Furthermore, Daka announced that the CEC has reduced its budget for 2021.

We've actually been reduced in budgets, like all institutions, and since, in the next year, we've got election year, so we have regular local elections, we'll see how much impact that will have. We still can't give me a box of”, she said.
