Pristina's Constitutional Prosecutor has launched investigations into Krasniqi's murder, while demanding that Skender Krasniqi go into custody for a month for criminal work “heavy murder” and “possession, control or unauthorized possession of weapons”.
The upper person, allegedly on January 27, 2021, with a firearm at 5: 00 p.m., was deprived of life of the person with the initials A.K. (his son), in the garage of their residential object, from reasons unknown so far”, is said in the statement.
“The suspect, with the State Prosecutor's decision, is located under a 48-hour ban, while the lifeless body has been sent to the Law Medicine Institute in Pristina for obduration”.
In addition to yesterday's tragedy, nine other families in Kosovo suffered crime among their members during 2020, which resulted in 12 deaths.
Victims of these cases are four female and eight male members.
According to police records the suspect is all male-gender, except one female.
In the following chart, you find police statistics on domestic murder during 2020.
In terms of handling the cases of this nature, security expert Drizan Shala estimates additional commitment is needed by state institutions.
Shala for KlanKosovo.tv says the government should draft an advanced programme for the killings and take example from other countries.
The state institutions unfortunately do not have specific programmes in terms of preventing such cases because the main focus of other institutions such as police, Prosecution, and Family Enti are taken only after this happens that the country's legal norms are violated.
So the government needs to draft a more advanced programme, as is the model state of Sweden, where the interinstitution communication chain would be vital to eliminate such cases in Kosovo society”.
Among other things, as a result of increased domestic violence and murder, the pandemic also sees it.
The fact is that changing the dynamic life process as a result of the pandemic has influenced families to be frequent centers over 24 hours and unable to adapt to such a change based on official statistics has a trend of growing actions like domestic violence and murder”.
The sociologist, Flaka Ymer, also says that pandemic has influenced the increase in cases of violence and murder within the family.
Over the past year we spent a year with many challenges, facing pandemics that was a challenge for all societies across the globe. But Kosovo society was hit even more heavily, given the circumstances in which we live with many economic and social problems that have grown further from closing”.
Ymer says the country's institutions must conduct sensationalising campaigns in preventing this phenomenon.
“Institutions should be more attentive to preventing violence and murder within the family. There has to be seditious campaigns on preventing this phenomenon, society's greater awareness of the importance of the family as a gentian because our family cannot avoid because our role as the society and values that the family has should also find support from the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo”.
“At the moment of increased family violence reporting should mobilise competent organs and persons who are the victims of the violence offered treatment in rehabilitation and moral rise. Neither victims nor those causing violence” should be overlooked, Ymer told Klan Kosova.tv.
Kosovo police, on the other hand, have called on citizens to report cases of domestic violence or any other kind of violence.
The treatment of priority cases on the part of the Kosovo Police, the co-operation of citizens with the police, and the prosperity of citizens has contributed to the increase in reporting cases. So it refers to cases raised, as well as in particular, to the situation and circumstances that we find at this time of pandemic, the Kosovo Police require all citizens not to show violence to anyone”.
Kosovo's “Police, despite additional engagements, treat these cases with priority and appeal to all persons whether they are victims of domestic violence or any other kind of violence, report these cases through 192 and 0800 19999 telephone numbers or to the nearest police station”, says in a response of the KK to Klaankosova.tv.
Compared to last year, seven cases of crime within the family occurred in 2019 based on police records.
