The U.S. has called Taiwan's recent threat <x0-fatwage”, adding that tensions should not lead “to confrontation”.
China sees democratic Taiwan as its breakaway province, but Taiwan views itself as an independent state.
We are seriously telling these Taiwanese forces who want independence: those who play with fire will burn themselves in it, and Taiwan's independence for us means war,” said Chinese Defence Ministry spokesman Wu Qian at a press conference today.
